Andrea was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. She attended Fairview High School in Boulder and went to the University of Northern Colorado. During her undergraduate years, she also attended the University of Colorado, Front Range Community College, Aims Community College, and the University of Arizona.
After graduation she worked for the Bank of Boulder in Boulder Colorado. After two years, she went back to graduate school in California at California State University Long Beach where she obtained a Master's of Science in Counseling in Student Development in Higher Education.
California was the perfect opportunity for Andrea to be exposed to diversity. She has had experience working with American Indians, Latino youth, and people with a variety of Disabilities (hidden and visible). After returning to Colorado, she worked for Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely Colorado, and she worked at the University of Northern Colorado for about 5 years in the Career Center as a Career Counselor and Marketing Coordinator for the office. As well, Andrea worked for Aims Community College for 3 years working on two grants; the first was a Title V Grant that was awarded to Aims for the retention and career development of Latino students. Finally, she worked as the Coordinator of Tutoring and Mentoring for a Student Support Services grant where she also advised students on career, course selection, transfer and college choice.
Currently she works for First Nations Development Institute as the Communications Specialist in the Communication Department of a granting organization working with rual American Indian communities and reservations and runs her business in Greeley Colorado. Working with American Indian Individuals has been a life long goal of Andrea's.
